Our Little Angel has Arrived!
Posted by frank on July 30, 2007 at 12:55:57 PM
Kiyana Mingmei Amodo

This would be the most amazing weekend for our family. And I've been praying so hard for Kiyana to arrive this past weekend as it would be my only weekend off. Thank you God for answering our prayers.

Thursday night 7.26.07 my wife Kim was experiencing some consistent contractions. Hours later, these contractions started to get uncomfortable. And on 7.27.07 at 4:45am in the morning, Kim said that it was time to go to the hospital. Little did we know, we were already at 3cm dilated. At about 12 noon, her water bag broke. 3 hours later, we were at 9 and half cm dilated! At 4pm, Kim started to push and at 4:49pm, Kiyana was already out. I became instantly in love with our new angel.

I’ve always thought that the birth of life was an amazing experience. But when it’s your own child, it’s beyond any experience you’ll ever encounter.

Here’s a few photos of our beautiful daughter:

suzie + mark
Posted by frank on July 24, 2007 at 05:28:12 PM
I remember arriving at Maui early that morning and the first thing I noticed was that it was hotter than the usual. But this uncomfortable weather did not bother this couple at all. Suzie and Mark exactly knew what they wanted with their photography regardless of the heat. Their timeline consisted of me shooting for 5 hours and having 2.5 hours just for portraits. How awesome is that? Normally, I would have at least 45 minutes (at other weddings), but 2.5 hours? Within the five hours of shooting time, I got know this couple very well and hung out with them as if we knew each other for years. It was easy photographing the two as they already knew what to do in front of the camera. Like I said before, it's amazing when you have a connection with the couple and that they become like an open book. Being connected is the key.

Their wedding was held at The Seawatch Restaurant and reception was to be followed at the beautiful Fairmont Kea Lani. It would be my 2nd time shooting the Fairmont and this time, I took advantage of the property's subtle beauty.

Thanks to Suzie & Mark for letting me be part of your wedding. You made it is so easy for me regardless of the heat. I could not imagine myself being anywhere else on your wedding day but to hang out with the both of you. Let these images reflect the love you both share for each other forever.

You've probably seen their engagement photos awhile back. We'll here they are again,..but this time it's their wedding. Shayna and Frank had a beautiful wedding out at Molii Gardens. The weather was perfect (the windward side of Oahu is always known for rain) without even a trace of rain drop.

My wife and I had the pleasure photographing this amazing couple. Without any hesitation, this couple knew how to work the camera. So much love & affection. It's almost like when your looking for the definition of "love" in a dictionary, you'll read, "Shayna & Frank".

Thanks to Shayna and Frank (we share the best name in world) for letting Kim and I be part of the most important day of your lives. You both are truly blessed to have each other. Love happily ever after to the both of you.

Katie and Bob...what more can I say about this wonderful couple. So much love...that you could easily feel the deep connection that binds their soul together. If there was three words I can used to describe them it would be, energy, love and affection.

I was also drawn in by the love that their family had. They took me in and accepted me as if I was their own.

We all had a blast and nothing could stop the fun we were all having even with the sprinklers turning on during the middle of the reception! How fun is that?

Thank you to my new friends and to my new extended family. I will always remember the wet and wild night we had...LOL!

kim + kiyana + anytime now
Posted by frank on July 17, 2007 at 03:09:37 AM
We just finished our 8 months of pregnancy and baby is now at full term. We are due anytime. Like they say, the final month will seem forever.

Here's a few photos of my beautiful wife at the final stages of holding our daughter. I can't wait for Kiyana's arrival.

We'll probably do one more photo shoot before giving birth, or and maybe the next set of images might just happen to be Kiyana.

Traveling to the Big Island was a big adventure for me. It was my first time in 23 years since I've last set foot on the Kona coast.

Connie and Josh had a beautiful wedding at the Fairmont White Orchid. Arriving early, I explored the entire property looking for various backdrop to utilize for portraits. There were countless backdrops to use especially the amazing sunset which known on the Kona coast.

I really had an amazing time rediscovering Kona and photographing their wedding. Thanks to Connie & Josh for having me document your special day. You both were such an amazing couple. Your images reflect your personalities which will continue to remind me of our special moments we all shared together.

Surviving The Week
Posted by frank on July 12, 2007 at 04:21:01 PM
I can't believe that this week is finally over (sorta). It all started on July 4th working with the humerous May & Ron, July 6th working with the adventurous Denise & Ollie, July 7th working with my lucky 777 couple, Richelle & Pridel, July 8th working with the energetic Myrian & Steven, July 9th with the beautiful Sandy & Ryan and finally on July 10th with the fun go happy Jeannie & Ronnie. 6 Shoots in one week! I am lying down here in my bed (just got up from a small nap) and reflecting all the memorable moments with my couples.... read and view more images

Lanai would have to be the most beautiful island in the Hawaiian chain. If my wife and I could do our wedding all over again, Lanai would be the place.

Andrea and Ondar's weddiing was held at both, Manele Bay and the Koele Lodge. They wanted both locations and to have a taste of both worlds, the ceremony site was held at the Manele Bay while the reception was to be followed at the Koele Lodge. This was an amazing experience for me.

Andrea looked like she just came right out of Cosmopolitan and Ondar looked as if he stepped right out of the pages of GQ. I got to know this couple very well and could see why they were made for each other. Such a simply stunning couple!

And to my new friends, thank you for accepting me in your circle. You both truly are made for each other and I was honored to help capture this amazing day. I wish you the best as you start your new life together as husband and wife. Here's a taste of your images.

May has been a really busy month for me traveling from island to island. Twice in Maui, twice on the Big Island, once on Lanai and once in Kauai. Flying to Maui to shoot weddings has always been a treat to me. And working with awesome couples like Celeste & Brandon is like the cherry on top. They had an amazing wedding at the Maalaea Estate (first time there). Lori Scott of Tropical Maui Weddings pulled all the details together making it a memorable experience. Other vendors included, Hair and make-up by Dan Sanchez, Brendan from Hawaii Video Memories and Flowers by Melissa. Thank you to Celeste and Brandon for having me be part of your wedding day! I really had a blast celebrating with you and your family. I still can't get over the size of those champagne glasses!

I really like this shot where only her earing is in focus. I thought it was pretty cool.
