Tropical Wahine Jewelry
Posted by frank on July 27, 2006 at 02:03:38 PM
I had the opportunity to work with Tropical Wahine to photograph their jewelry line. The concept I wanted for this shoot was to give it a classy, natural and intimate look. The way I achieved this look was to use natural light while shooting indoors. There was also a beautiful garden and a pool which we also used for our back drop. Thinking that this shoot was going to be only two hours long, it ended being a 5 hour shoot! I loved every minute of it. I had so much fun working with Cindy, Maria and Miguel. I look forward shooting more of their jewelry line in the future.

Shrimp Day - Day Off
Posted by frank on July 27, 2006 at 12:10:29 PM
July is the most busiest month for me. From what I remember, July 1st would be the only day off. So Kim and I decided we take a drive to the North Shore to treat ourselves to one of Hawaii's asset, the Original White Shrimp Truck, Giovanni. Garlic, Garlic, and more Garlic...all I can say is Yum Yum and try not to burp while driving home with the windows up. Make sure you roll down your window to let the wind blow through! Being that it's a long drive to the North Shore, sometimes driving can be so boring. But for Kim and I, we know exactly how to entertain ourselves.

Driving to the North Shore

A car just flew right pass cutting us off!

Myrian & Steven
Posted by frank on July 18, 2006 at 05:35:01 AM
I've had tons of fun photographing this couple. Not only were they friendly, but they seem to be one of the kindest and laid back people you could ever meet. I had a great time hanging out with them! I'm glad we connected! Thanks to Menchie for connecting us! This energetic and loving couple is originally from Hawaii(both residing in Newark, California). Steven, the local boy from Honolulu, and Myrian the country girl from Waianae found love for each other by having one thing in common, "aloha". They both did not know each other prior to moving to the States. It was then "aloha ~ love" that brought Myrian & Steven together. Couples years later, they became engaged. And here I am photographing their engagement photos. What an honor!

Our shoot started in Downtown Honolulu. We'd just walked around being spontaneous with our backdrop. We'd looked for pockets of light, texture, frames, architectual buildings or anything for the making for an interestng backdrop. Our shoot ended at Ko`olina (Lanikuhonua) capturing one Hawaii's greatest assets, the sunset. The weather was perfect. No rain, a slight breeze and just a bit of cloud to minamally block us from the rays of light. Saturated colors of blue and orange lit the sky as it made it's most making a colorful and beautiful sunset. We were blessed.

Thanks to Myrian and Steven! I've had such a great time getting to know the both of you. And I look forward to photographing your wedding next year!

THE JEONS: Janeen and Leon
Posted by frank on July 01, 2006 at 05:58:30 PM
Janeen and Leon, THE JEONS…what more can I say about this couple. They had such a beautiful and amazing wedding! My wife and I were honored to be photographing, celebrating and witnessing the beginning of their new life together. This was another special wedding for me as it felt like I was watching my little sister and my little brother getting married. I was moved and I was touched, especially during their communion as they both had a little moment with Christ. I couldn’t hold back the tear that streamed down my right cheek. I glanced over my left shoulder and saw my wife with teary eyes and a big smile. My wife and I connected as we instantly shared the same thoughts. Awww…

Janeen and Leon, thank you for letting Kim and I be part of your wedding. We had so much fun celebrating with your friends and family. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Click the "read more" link to view more images (pump up the volume!).
